Sept 7 2025

NORWALK, CA — Authorities are investigating after an 86-year-old man died from injuries sustained in a dog attack while out for a walk in Norwalk.

The incident occurred around 6:45 a.m. Saturday near 166th Street and Graystone Avenue, where two unleashed Rottweilers attacked the man, causing severe bleeding from an artery in his left arm, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Steve DeJong.

Two bystanders intervened, fighting off the dogs and attempting to aid the victim until Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics arrived. He was rushed to the hospital and underwent surgery, but died Sunday morning.

The dogs’ owner, who was searching for them after they got loose, cooperated with deputies at the scene. The animals were returned home temporarily but are expected to be taken into custody and quarantined by Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control.

Investigators are awaiting confirmation from the Medical Examiner regarding the official cause of death.
