Car Accident Claims The Life of Suspected Hit-And-Run Driver

A woman in Laguna Beach was struck by a car and killed just after 7 pm this past Wednesday evening. According to police, the accident occurred on El Toro Road, just south of the 73 Toll Road overpass.

First responders found the 46 year old unconscious on the road when they arrived, and rushed her to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, where she succumbed to her injuries.

Though her identity is not public information at this time, police believe that this woman may have been responsible for a hit-and-run earlier in the day, being behind the wheel of a U-Haul truck in Rancho Mission Viejo. The other driver in the incident is reported to have followed her for a distance before the U-Haul was parked on the side of the road, blocking the outbound lane on El Toro.

The woman was said to have gotten out of the truck and was “walking inbound on El Toro Road” as some passersby tried to relocate the truck out of the way of the outbound lane. She was then hit by a vehicle while attempting to cross El Toro Road.

The driver who struck her cooperated with authorities and remained on scene until they arrived.

Police do not believe that drugs or alcohol played any part in the crash with the woman as she was crossing the road.
