A single-vehicle accident early Friday morning left one woman dead and a man hospitalized. The incident was reported around 3:15 AM in the vicinity of La Veta Avenue and Batavia Street.
When authorities arrived, they discovered the car crashed into a pole. The woman, who was in the passenger’s seat, was pronounced dead on the scene, while the male driver was transported to the hospital.
According to Lt. Mike Monjaraz of the Orange County Police Department, a California Highway Patrol officer had tried to stop the car earlier in the evening. He also explained that there was also an ongoing investigation into whether CHP was pursuing the car before the crash happened.
The man who was hospitalized will be arrested after he is released from care on the suspicion of driving under the influence, and causing the crash in the first place.
