Mid-City Hotel Fire Leaves One Dead, Several Injured

Just after 2 A.M. on February 7th, 2020, Firefighters rushed to the scene at the Venice Hotel in the Mid-City Los Angeles area and found both floors of the Hotel in flames. It took nearly 40 minutes for the 105 Firefighters to extinguish the blaze. Fortunately, none of them were injured.

The tenants and guests were rushed from the building as the flames spread. Tragically, one person was declared dead on the scene. Three others were rushed to the hospital in critical and grave condition. Their names and ages have not yet been disclosed.

Local man Tamu Khalfani, who lives in the hotel, reported seeing smoke and running down the hall knocking on doors and yelling “fire!” A few minutes later it may have been too late.

The cause of the fire is being investigated. Based on how fast the flames spread, arson is not being ruled out.
