A devastating single-vehicle crash in Irvine claimed the lives of two people shortly after midnight on September 13, 2026.
According to news reports, a 2019 McLaren was stopped at the intersection of Culver Drive and Deerfield Avenue. Police said the vehicle accelerated northbound after the traffic signal turned green before the driver apparently lost control. The McLaren struck a curb and then a tree, breaking into pieces and catching fire.
The Irvine Police Department and Orange County Fire Authority responded at approximately 12:18 a.m. After firefighters extinguished the blaze, both occupants were found deceased inside the vehicle.
