A water tanker truck overturned and killed two people on Saturday afternoon in the north of Santa Ana Road on Casitas Vista Road, between Ventura and Ojai.
The truck knocked out an oak tree and many of its branches on the south side of the road, becoming tangled on power lines above the road, with one large tree branch blocking the roadway.
The two people involved in the accident were apparently trapped into the vehicle. One died at the scene and the other was taken by ambulance to a hospital but didn’t resist.
According to CHP Sgt. R.J. Regan, there were no witnesses to the accident and apparently, the truck was travelling at a high rate speed, causing the crash.
The incident was the second fatality involving a water truck in the past month. On May 15, a water truck fell about 2,000 feet after rolling off Deer Creek Road about a mile north of Pacific Coast Highway killing the vehicle driver.
